A Tour Of The Best Place To Buy Suits In Canada.
Thank you for this Jonah. I learned a lot of things from your well planned interview. If you know Marty you know he is not one to speak a lot about his accomplishments. He was always that way and a brilliant student form the beginning. As a 2 year old he would waddle up to my electric bass in its stand and play it like an upright bass. Thanks again. Lynn Lovell
Binney is the modern alto player I enjoy hearing the most, his sound, time and lines are masterful.
Thank you for sharing! May I ask when this interview was conducted?
Just happened to listen to Lee Hocus Pocus today. That man was soooo talented, gifted, and creative. I read somewhere that he picked up the trumpet at 14, and by the time he was 15, he was able to play professional.
maravilloso , escuchar tan buena música, gracias, desde Argentina
I have watched two performances filmed at Small’s Jazz Club. Dave Stryker Trio and Mike DiRubbo. It was beautiful to watch them both play in an intimate venue like Small’s. They were both well recorded. Thank you Small’s
Beautiful. I got to meet Steve at the Pete LaRocca Memorial at St Peters Chutch. Great conversation. 🎹
How to play like this?
Harold Mabern, a true class act. Great educator and human being in addition to his masterful skills as a pianist and jazz musician. In high school he co-led a Jazz workshop every Monday night at a local university near me. Harold was so inspirational, encouraging and just great at communicating the art of jazz to young musicians.
Avery was a huge influence on me when i first started playing double bass, and still is after watching this! Seeing Avery with McCoy at the Newport Jazz festival was an incredible experience. What a band that was. McCoy, Avery, Aaron Scott and Michael Brecker.. wow!
What amaze me about these great musicians is how humble they are . Especially jazz musicians ,Harold mabern has particular way of touching the piano," sweet fingers" . I have great respect for him . RIP.
simply wonderful
Hey Tyler ,Steve Palmore here keep on keeping on bro.
BB3 is a great great great great great musician!!!!!!
I am just getting hip to Scott and his playing. Great interview. Thank you!
How can I be the 1st to comment on this amazing man and his fascinating story, such an education about his musical evolution, and it is just really cool!
Please redo with music lower or turn up your mike. Thank you.
yes, tyler, beautiful artistry!!!
Oh, Jazz standard was closed? sorry to find that. But thanks a lot, I'm going to NY soon, buying tickets
Amazing story
Is this the 125St. Smalls?
Nice interview Justin. We have a little, musical, parallel My daughters' Dad, Eric Schanz's Father was a seasoned, sax player from Brooklyn and his Mom was an amazing singer. Born in Springfield, MA. She moved to Brooklyn.
Wow what a distinguished, eloquent gentleman along with being a legendary musician ... thanks for posting!
Mulgrew was a totally amazing musician and a beautiful human being. ❤🎹🙏🏼
We miss you Harold ! Thank you for your wonderful legacy of extrordinary & beautiful gift of music. God rest your soul.❤🎹
"Quiet Passion" Is a Great Tune, Feel the Music. May He R.I.P.
❤
He makes the piano sing.
Big thanks for this. I’m a jazz fan for many years, and we’re going to NY soon. I needed this. 🌹
Please, pass my comments on to Mike
Mike Clarke. I live for the funk and jazz you’re talking about. I’ve been borrowing from Thruat, and The Funk Stops Here for most of my playing life. I love your playing. I wish you all the best my brother
Great information
It was nice to hear Harold talk highly of Lee, it’s consistent with interviews I have read of other great musical collaborators who shared the stage with Morgan 🙏🏾🕊️
The Gigolo, one of Lee's greatest recordings, with one of the great trios behind him and Wayne. "You Go To My Head" is my all time Lee classic, one of the greatest interpretations of that tune.
Oh yeah, my favorite arrangement ever of that classic tune
Am I hearing a lot of A Night in Tunisia?
Promo`SM 😢
Great trumpeter, but his woman did him wrong!
I was born in 69 , Lee was Funky and soulful
Love the outro jam music! 😁
Great interesting indeed!!! 😁
Boths are class cats! Greetings from Jazzman Kuala Lumpur.
The man was an icon. He's one of those unsung artists that should have been granted more exposure and accolades that he received. I hope Spike was able to come to terms with his passing. I was just as stubborn with my father, and it took me a long time to forgive myself after he passed. It's very difficult being apart from you parents or children because of past gripes.
“ bless you, Lee Morgan bless you your Caramba uplifted me in many ways that LP help carry me through life Caramba Mr. Lee Morgan, and your gig with Lonnie Smith on the LP Think son of ice bag jam on on the spiritual plane Mr. Lee Morgan miss you so “ R.I.P “
Thanks
I appreciate Johnny's observations about Monk. A book about Monk stories by fellow musicians would be cool.
What microphone was used to record this?
Zoom h4n
Yeah Joe
I really appreciate how you knowlegeably showcase musicians and we learn about them and you. I've seen Benny quite a bit on smalls livestream and was glad to hear about his mom and teachers influenced his singing. You are a gracious host. Are you still playing??
Great music man ❤ Mabern!! Gone way too soon 😢
